I'm in loooove with your blog! I don't think my hair has been this healthy in ages, and I owe it all to your wonderful blog full of information! (:
I was wondering, do you have any preferances or reccomendations when it comes to deep conditioners? I don't want to spend the money to go to the salon, so anything I can get from a drug store or a beauty supply store would be great! Thanks! xx
There’s a list of deep conditioners I recommend on my hair care page :)
Hi, i want to get my bangs cut like this,
<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=o010fo" target="_blank"><img src="http://i56.tinypic.com/o010fo.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>
and i want a side cut, but with the hair growing back, can you do that without shaving your hair? thanks, love your blog <3.
Yes, you can do it without shaving it completely. You can either cut it really short or use the levels on a buzzer and keep it long.
hey i have brown curly\wavy hair its really thick and my curls are crazy. It is down to my chest area but im getting bored. I have tan skin and brown eyes i dont know what would look good but i want it to be something fun and different. thank you so much<3
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f158/vencil26/0409111521.jpg do you think it would look bad if i did my hair like this http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f158/vencil26/tumblr_lk0ejbp3dl1qbaej0o1_500.jpg but just the haircut not the color.
No, I don’t think it would look bad, it’s just a lot edgier than what you have now so it’s a big change.
Hey! You're always so helpful to the people that ask you questions and I love your blog. Could you maybe post some pictures of girls with really dark purple hair? Right now mine is really dark brown, close to black actually, and I want to give it kind of a purple tint, nothing too crazy though. Also, do you think I'd have to make it lighter in some way for the color to take? Thanks so much!
You’ll probably need to lighten it just a little bit, not too much if you’re just looking to get a tint of purple.
Hello! First, I want to say your blog is amazing ~
I've had a gamine cut a couple of months ago, like carrie mulligan's, and it's grown quite a few inches (about 3 inches). The problem is my hair is pretty thick so they used thinning scissors to help achieve the look, and since it's grown out my hair just looks like a mess - ___ - I have a straight fringe, about an inch above my eyebrows (and it looks horrible!). I was wondering if there's any way to make my hair grow faster, or at least help it grow healthy so I won't have to cut off hair if I get any split ends. Oh, and if there's any way I can style/accessorize my hair to make it less... horriffic...
Thank you so much !
On my hair care page I have a whole section on hair growth and what you can do. :)
You should really look at some smoothing serums to help smooth your hair down during the day if you think it looks to much like a mess.
Or what you could do is make it messier, for an edgier look and go get some product to style your hair like that. :)
i know i just asked you a hair question, but i thought of another question! :P sorry!
i'm debating between growing my hair out very long (which i've never really done) or cutting it very short...
this is a picture of my face with my hair pulled back if that helps: http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lkc5lyHkzd1qflivko1_500.jpg
i'd really love any examples/recommendations from you.. (all your hair pictures you post show you have good taste!) thankss :)
Unless you really want to cut it short, then I’d suggest that you wait a little while and think about it because cutting hair short after you were also wanting it long is a pain (trust me, I cut all my hair off then wanted it to be long so bad).
But I think you would look cute with short hair, so if you really want to then go for it! If you aren’t so sure then I’d wait a little bit.
my hair is naturally blonde (this color: http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lizy7l07wG1qflivko1_500.jpg )
but then i dyed it a series of browns and auburns between this november and this march... this march i had it professionally colored in attempt to get back near my natural color. it now looks like this: http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lkbtg6ELol1qflivko1_500.jpg
it's a bit redder than i intended, but i don't mind it.
the problem: my roots are growing back lighter and not as red/strawberry as the rest of my hair. i don't want to dye it again.
i've thought about doing the whole lemon juice and sitting out in the sun thing to try and lighten it.
what do you reccomend???
Lemon juice can really dry out hair, but I’ve heard from some people that it works pretty well and they love it.
A few things I would suggest you do is that you can either go back to a stylist and have them lighten it a little more or you can try lightening it yourself.
It seems that you wouldn’t need to lighten it too much, and if you want to try doing it yourself then you should just get 10 volume bleach. :)
Sorry I haven’t been posting a whole lot of pictures today, I’ve been getting tons of questions and I still have a lot to answer.
Over the next few days I won’t be very available to answer questions. I’ll be posting pictures though, I just won’t have a lot of time to sit down and continually answer questions like I have been. So if you have any, ask them now. I still have a ton to answer, and please don’t worry if yours isn’t answered right away, I’m really doing my best.
Hi, do you have any pictures of Sierra Kusterbeck's hair where you can clearly see the dreads in it, or pictures of anybody else with normal hair with a few randomly placed dreadlocks? I've been wanting to add a couple to my hair since it's not really think enough to dread all of it, but I'd like to see a couple of pictures of other people doing it just for ideas on placement before I start. Failing that, if you have any pictures of girls with synthetic dreads then those would be appreciated too :) thanks in advance!
I have a very plain mousy brown hair color right now and its pretty long with layers. I'm wanting to do something crazy with color, like dye the under layers with baby blue and the remainder of my hair dark brown so that there's a huge contrast from the two but at the same time... I'm 20 and scared that its going to look kind of childish. Do you have any ideas on how I can dye my hair myself and get a look similar to that one but a little older looking? Pictures would be awesome also :) thanks youuuuu
Hey there :) You know, I can see why you’d be afraid of it being childish but I honestly don’t think it would be. You could always do a dip dye (where the tips of your hair is dyed and the rest is a normal color) I’ll post some pictures of that for you and I’ll try to find some with brown and blue underneath.
your blog is so amazing and helpful. i just spent like an hour going through some of your answers. :P
anyway thought i would ask you about my hair.
1. my hair is shoulder-length right (well, a little longer) and i like it. but i'm worried. my hair seems to grow extremely slow. i don't regret cutting it off, i'm just worried now because i feel like it won't ever be long again. do you have any suggestions to make hair grow faster?
2. I think I want to dye the tips of my hairs. I was thinking this: http://donotfollow-justclick.tumblr.com/post/4984863346 or this: http://donotfollow-justclick.tumblr.com/post/4912697634 or maybe only blue. I'm quite pale and I feel my skin has pink undertones. My eyes are blue. My hair is currently dyed blonde. It is naturally light brown. What do you think?
3. I'm worried about the colours fading. What do suggest to keep them from fading?
Thank you so much in advance and keep up the lovely blog! <3
Okay, I have a part on my hair care page about hair growth and what you can do!
I think the blue would be good if you have pink undertones, cool colors are the best way to go but if you want to put the pink in there, it wouldn’t be too much.
There’s also some stuff on my hair styling/coloring page or hair care page about keeping hair from fading.
My suggestions are stay away from heat and wash your hair in cold water.
Blue fades pretty fast, you might need to touch it up every now and then.
So that's me with my hair on a good day and me without my glasses, so I look less dorky and weird, BUT I was thinking of getting my hair cut like this:
But keeping it a bit longer since I'm growing my hair out and adding the color. I used to have a shaved head, so this is the longest I've ever had my hair, and I want to keep growing it out, so I'm kind of iffy on cutting it. Do you have any suggestions?
Well, I used to have really short hair and I’ve been growing it out for a while now so I know what you mean.
That haircut isn’t completely drastic from the hair you have now. I mean, it’s shorter but it’s not a whole lot shorter.
If you really wanna do something like that, go for it. Hair grows back.
Just think about it before hand since you’ve been growing it out just so you won’t look back and regret it.
i was gonna dye my hair green but everyone i talked to said im doing it just for attention. what do you think about this?
Anything about appearance, whether it be clothing, makeup, hair, the way you present yourself, etc., it’s all to express yourself.
There’s no reason someone should assume your doing anything just for attention. I think that you should do it if you want to. If everyone says your just doing it for attention, then that’s them. Just do what you want.
I was wondering if you could help me, at the moment I'm trying to grow my hair but a while ago I got some layers, the shortest ones are now just below my jaw lines and they just dont look good, my longest layer is a few cm below my shoulders. do you have any ideas for a new cut? oh and I have medium/dark brown hair with lighter brown highlights and an oval face if that makes any difference, thanks heaps xx
I’ll try and find some good haircuts for you. I assume you’re just looking for something different than what you have now? It doesn’t sound like you’re looking for anything in specific.
Hey! I love your blog first of all, and I had a couple questions.
First, could you give me the part of your theme where it codes for the diamond (the link to reblog your posts)?
and second, I was wondering how often people mess up dying their hair themselves, is it a pretty straightforward process or is it easy to screw it up?
If you’re talking about how to reblog the picture you’re looking at on my blog, you click on where it says either “leave note” or “# notes”
Coloring hair for some people can be a real pain and extremely hard to do, but for some people it’s the easiest thing in the world. It really depends on the person and coloring hair can be messed up easily if it’s not done properly.
So I have a question (:
My hair is shoulder length, and light brown. It's also curly/wavy. I'm the only person I know with hair like mine, and I was wondering how I should cut it? Are there any styles that would make my crazy weird waves and curls more manageable? Thanks (:
The longer curly hair is, the more manageable it is (for most people with curly hair anyways) only because short hair can get out of hand and turn into an afro type style.
The haircut really doesn’t matter, as long as you use products to tame your curls. It also really depends just how curly your hair is.
ah, thank you so much! By the way, yeah, so i've curly hair with medium/long layers and side swept bangs. I kinda like my hairstyle but it's been kinda boring lately..I've always wanted messier, shorter layers but I'm so scared it'll look like shit, since I don't have straight hair. i'm talking about curly hair, not wavy hair, haha x)
ah I dont know what to do with this hair.
I think curly hair can look great with shorter messy layers. I know a lot of people that do it. You just need to use a product to keep your curls tame so that it doesn’t get too out of control.
Hello! I don't know if you'll get this in time.. but I have a hair appointment in about 2 hours and I need some pictures to show the hairdresser. I'm getting a cut/color. I kind of had a bleach disaster so I'm getting it fixed. I have a sidecut and I really want a lot of layers. Almost scene-ish layers in my hair. Also some sort of brown with highlights.. also my hair is about medium length. if you have any pictures that'd be awesome :)
I’ll try and find some with sidecuts and layers, but what I think I’ll do is just post pictures of hair with lots of layers for you and your hairstylist can work with it. :)
Make your very own hot oil treatment for your hair !
Prepare 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup of boiling water, and liquid from 4 vitamin E capsules. Place them into a large glass bottle or jar with a lid and shake well. Thoroughly massage into hair, taking care not to burn your head. Wrap a plastic shower cap over your hair and wrap your head in hot towel that has been soaked in hot water then wrung out. Leave mixture on your hair for 30 minutes or overnight if hair is much damaged, then shampoo as usual. Do this once in two weeks.
* Hot oil treatment is very good for dry hair or for bleached/coloured hair.
Would this actually work ?
The olive oil and liquid from vitamin E capsules is a good thing, but anything hot on your hair is damaging, even if it’s a hot oil treatment.
I have dyed black hair that has now faded to brownish. I have ordered a hair color called Schwarzkopf Live Permanent Color XXL Real Red 35, It is a very vibrant red. I do not want to bleach my hair... is there something else you can recommend to help get the brightest red I can get without bleach?
One thing you can try, I’ve known people to do it, is you can just go buy some blonde dye from the store. What it will do (maybe, like I said, I’ve never personally done it) is take your hair to a gray color, making it a little lighter. After that you can put the red over it and hopefully get a brighter red rather than just dying it over the brown.
Really though your best bet is to lighten it a little bit unless that’s completely out of the question for you.
I hope it works out for you, let me know if you have any other questions.
